Summary
The carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning is a medical emergency. Patient with acute CO poisoning can develop neurological, gastrointestinal and cardiac symptoms. We report the modifications of cardiac biomarkers (cardiac troponin I and natriuretic peptide type B) in three cases of CO poisoning that seem to correlate with the poisoning severity even in absence of cardiac symptoms. The alteration of these markers in the acute phase of CO poisoning are likely to increase the risk of long term mortality, and allow to select patients requiring echocardiography follow up and cardiac MRI. Key-words: cardiac biomarkers, monoxide poisoning, prognostic index.
